OUR INCREDIBLE RESIDENTS SET TO TAKE ABODE IN THE PARK BY STORM

Our resident DJs are at the core of what makes ABODE so unique and special. Taking on rising stars has always been a fundamental belief of ABODE founder Kai, with our residents now rubbing shoulders (sometimes literally) with the global elite of the DJing world every week.

This philosophy helps enable the next generation of musical taste makers to shine and gives them a platform to show what they can do. With a steadily growing fanbase, the residents of ABODE have now become a main attraction in their own right. Never content with standing still, their technical mastery combined with an arsenal of new and exciting music will be heard across some of the biggest stages and slots at ABODE in the Park.

We sat down with ABODE founder Kai to discuss how he met his residents and how far they’ve come since joining the team…

GW HARRISON

“I first met George around 5 years ago, at the time I was running an event in London called ‘Fortay’. I noticed George’s creative energy through the artwork he was creating for us and he was running his own event in Kent called ‘Agenda’ back then. He sent me a mix to be considered for future shows and the rest, as they say, is history. A lot has changed since 2013… George is now one of my best mates, a real industry nice guy that is becoming a tour de force through amazing productions and huge bookings.”

ARTIKAL

Artikal (Stefano) is our most experienced DJ. He comes with over two decades of industry experience and is hugely adaptable. No matter what the time or setting, you can rely on him for unfaltering consistency of the highest level both musically and professionally. I met him in 2013 after coming across his mix. Having watched him receive such amazing feedback on social media I just knew I had to offer him a place on the team. Since 2014, this cheeky Londoner and a renowned family man with a heart of solid gold has been a cornerstone of the ABODE community.”

ELLIE COCKS

“Ellie was my first ever female resident. From day dot it has been apparent that we share most of the same qualities (crazy, cheeky, lack of filter… you know, the fun but super genuine stuff). We met in 2014. She was playing at Fire in Vauxhall. Still, to this day, I have never seen such an energetic set in an intimate setting; she commanded the room like a sea of hypnotised cobras. The next day I put a post on Facebook asking if anybody knew who this girl was. The flurry of notifications that followed was nothing short of mind-blowing and, well… you know the rest.”

WILL TAYLOR

I have been privileged to watch Will grow both as an artist and as a person over the last 6/7 years. I used to go raving in London around 2011/2012 back in the height of his Connected and Magna Carta days. Will has always been a bit of a cult hero on the London circuit, someone that a lot of people are fond of for many reasons (including myself) and is an important part of the ABODE family. He also happens to be my next door neighbour now too. What a lucky guy.”

JIMMY SWITCH

I met Jimmy in 2012, he played as a guest at my Fortay event and even then his sound, style and image jumped off the page at me. I knew I had to bring him to London and share him with as much of the world as possible. That’s why he was my first ever ABODE resident and he is still touring Europe and representing our family proudly.”

JACK SWIFT & DEVSTAR

“I have been fixated on these guys since 2014, I was immediately drawn to their unique sound and freshness which has put them in a league of their own in respect of the UK scene as a whole. These lads have always been grafters, they were smashing it before they became a part of ABODE. They were always going to go the distance and I’m so grateful they get to do that as part of our brand. Two of the nicest people you will ever meet and since joining only a mere 2 years ago they have helped carve ABODE into the masterpiece that it is today.”

AND NOT FORGETTING… YOU!

“Without all of the above, without Peter and Joe my business partners, without my better half, Sophie, my son Freddie and the rest of my family and friends. Without a whole world out there of like-minded people, there would be no ABODE. Everything that I associate with a sense of being at home, the people around me and the feeling it brings are exactly what makes ABODE exactly what it is, home; and not just for me but everybody that chooses to make it their permanent residence.”

A Breakdown Of Our Stages

At last year’s inaugural ABODE in the Park, we invited all of our extended family to Finsbury Park, including past guests, our seasoned residents and our legion of fans who have partied with us since the beginning. Together, we closed the UK summer festival season in emphatic fashion. In 2018, we raised the bar even higher, launching ABODE On the Rock in Gozo and taking over Thursday nights on Amnesia’s terrace in Ibiza. We keep setting ourselves goals and when we break them we aim higher still. The same goes for year two of ABODE in the Park. We’re going bigger – adding three new music arenas on top of the favourites from last year. Here’s a breakdown of the stages and the hosts you’ll find at Finsbury Park on Sunday 23rd September.

THE MAIN STAGE

HOSTED BY ABODE

The name speaks for itself. The jewel in our crown. The centre of the action. The main focus. It’s here you will find the biggest sound system, the biggest acts and the biggest crowds. Big is the order of the day. Super-sized and super-charged for 2018. ABODE don’t do things by halves. But you already knew that. Expect to see a stellar line-up of A-listers complimented by our ABODE residents.

THE TERRACE

HOSTED BY WARRIORS

Because we know some of you music fanatics still enjoy that added bit of luxury we have confirmed ABODE’s playful little sister Hot Bed into the VIP arena, who bring good vibes and a bit of class to proceedings. High-end cocktails, luxurious toilet facilities, cool hangout areas, live instruments and a music line-up you won’t experience anywhere else at ABODE in the Park. Proper exclusive.

THE WAREHOUSE

HOST TO BE ANNOUNCED

The Warehouse. Enclosed, dark, hot and with a pumping sound system and sparse production. This is our ode to London’s warehouse party heritage. The roots of our scene was born in these very industrial spaces. Harking back to a bygone era, this is little piece of the inner city inside the lush surrounding of Finsbury Park. One for the music lovers, the warehouse host will be announced soon!

THE BIG TOP

HOSTED BY DANNY HOWARD’S NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

A UK festival favourite. There’s a reason it’s called the big top. High ceilings and – much like the circus – you can expect that added sense of theatre. The Big Top goes hand-in-hand with the smell of grass and booming thud of 4/4 electronic music. A further gift for the eardrums comes in the form of Danny Howard’s Nothing Else Matters – the project that promotes the sounds of our generation and conjures up images of good times.

THE BOX

HOSTED BY LOVEJUICE

Sometimes perfection lies in its simplest form. What can we say about The Box? It’s back to basics. A cuboid corridor with great acoustics and an unobstructed view of the DJ regardless of your position. Hosting The Box is the innately-capable LoveJuice, who bring their feel-good flair to the North London locale with their love of top-notch acoustics and sunshine-laden basslines. Get boxed in with ABODE in the Park.

THE SECRET GARDEN

HOSTED BY LITTLE FESTIVAL

A stage assimilated into the stunning natural features of Finsbury Park, we welcome Little Festival to host proceedings and showcase their intense percussive energies for a bouncing dance-floor. The size of their vision is not dissimilar to the volume of treats they hand out to punters; foam noodles, inflatable flamingos and other hilarious novelties are a frequent motif at their events. It’s the perfect place to unwind from the exhilaration of the larger stages.

THE STABLES

HOST TO BE ANNOUNCED

Usually reserved for four-legged friends with hooves, we’ve removed the hay and renovated these ones in question, installing a DJ booth. Expect absolute horseplay. There’s no flies on our DJs.

THE BUS

HOST TO BE ANNOUNCED

A London icon. How do you improve it? Add a sound system and a DJ – that’s how. Our four-wheeled music arena at ABODE in the Park.

A Focus On Our Second Wave Line-Up

ABODE in the Park returns this summer to showcase only the most astronomically-gifted names who encompass the ABODE ethos and musical creed. Having already announced the likes of Groove Armada, Santé and Sidney Charles, East End Dubs, Hector Couto, Cuartero, as well as our esteemed residents in our first wave line-up, we take a closer look at the second wave of artists set to tear up Finsbury Park on Sunday 23rd September…

STEVE LAWLER

PRESENTS WARRIORS

With over twenty years in the game and still thundering on, Steve Lawler will bebringing Warriors toThe Terrace for a house and techno showcase. From illegal urban raves in the 90s to his iconic Space Ibiza residencies, they’ll all be contained in the epic story he tells through his DJing on 23rd September.

DANNY HOWARD

PRESENTS NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

Radio1 presenter and producer Danny Howard’s poise and passion is immediately present whenever he steps up to the decks. Nimble and dexterous, Danny will host The Big Top where he brings his very own Nothing Else Matters event to the massive stage.

LEE FOSS

Hot Creations house specialist Lee Foss makes his long-awaited ABODE debut at Finsbury Park. Described by DJ Mag as “one of the most talented forces” in dance music and by Art Department as their favourite producer, it’s his work alongside Jamie Jones that has proved to be the most memorable. Unmissable.

WAZE & ODYSSEY

A firm favourite with both long-standing house-heads and those just being first introduced to the scene, Waze & Odyssey cater to the many (with remixes for the likes of Rita Ora and R Kelly), whilst still creating life-defining moments that crowds will look back upon fondly in years to come.

MAX CHAPMAN

Max Chapman is a name we have been dying to bring to ABODE in the Park – and the time is finally here! A recurrent face alongside the likes of Darius Syrossian, this London and Ibiza frequenter is one of the most exciting acts emerging in dance music with a massive career ahead of him.

MARK JENKYNS

With unparalleled production skills that have resulted in releases on the likes of Hot Creations, Defected and VIVa, Mark can chop vocals, create disarming inflections out of thin air and craft rhythmic tapestries of sound that will blow you away. Do not miss him!

NATHAN BARATO

Having leapt to international notoriety with a carefree charm in his selections and party productions, Nathan Barato’s prestigious releases can be found on labels like Hot Creations, Cajual and his own Roots and Wings label. It was only right that we brought him to ABODE in the Park 2018.

GEORGE SMEDDLES

Resonance Records’ George Smeddles now boasts fans across the world thanks to his ability to straddle a multitude ofgenres during his sets as seen in his performances at Ministry of Sound. George is an undying torch within the industry and a welcome addition to the festival.

Highlights From Our First Wave Line-Up

We’re building on the foundations of last year’s debut to bring you an altogether more rounded festival. We have compiled a line-up that reflects our musical identity, preaches to our audience and looks to the future whilst acknowledging our heritage. Our first wave line-up are forerunners of this. This is ABODE in the Park 2018.

GROOVE ARMADA

Our first act are certified legends. Having blown everybody away on 338’s terrace at our last party, we just had to invite Groove Armada to play our festival. Andy Cato and Tom Findlay have achieved everything there is to achieve in the business, yet their enthusiasm remains unwavered. Arguably the most pivotal duo in the history of dance music, with their output ranging from anthems to underground bangers we present Groove Armada at Abode in the Park 2018.

SIDNEY CHARLES AND SANTE

Andy and Tom are joined by another double-act making waves within the industry. As the heads of German house imprint Avotre, they are pushing the underground sound forward into new territory. They tore Finsbury Park in two with their B2B last year – easily one of the highlights of our debut. Of course, we’re talking about Sidney Charles and Santé.

EAST END DUBS

Completing our first wave of artists is London-based East End Dubs. Reppin’ the musical landscape of this fair city through his Eastenderz party series and label, there’s few better ambassadors for the city’s multicultural identity than East End Dubs.

OUR ESTEEMED RESIDENTS

Our parties wouldn’t be what they are without our loyal residents – and our festival is no different. It goes without saying that Artikal, Ellie Cocks, GW Harrison, Jack Swift & Devstar, Jimmy Switch and Will Taylor will all have huge roles to play once again.

Ten Key Moments of ABODE’s Journey

The ABODE journey has been a monumental one. An expedition of epic size. It gets us emotional when we think back to all of the parties that we have shared with you all. From humble beginnings to hosting celebrations in some of the most sought-after locations, we share with you the most pivotal moments from ABODE’s remarkable pilgrimage towards global domination.

  1. BIRTH OF ABODE

We have to go back to the very beginning – Sunday 7th September 2014. A date that will live on in clubbing infamy. A stellar line-up consisting of wAFF, Dyed Soundorom and Audiofly marked the dawn of a new era. That line-up would still do the damage today. Though we’ve come a long way since, we will never forget our past.

  1. HALLOWEEN

Arguably the party that really put ABODE on the map, starting what would become an annual tradition of mobbed out Halloween parties. Nic Fanciulli and Leon packed in the punters dressed head to toe in ghoulish fancy dress.

  1. TOBACCO DOCK

The Grade II listed building in Wapping is truly a jewel in London’s clubbing crown. So when we were given the opportunity to host our second birthday party there, we jumped at the chance. Darius Syrossian and co. laid further claim to the fact that nobody does Halloween in London quite like ABODE.

  1. LAUNCHING THE RECORD LABEL

With ABODE rapidly becoming the party that defined a new generation of clubbers, the next natural step was to create a label wing of the business – a place to house our residents’ productions as well as some of industry’s leading underground artists. In August 2016 our debut release landed, with contributions from Franky Rizardo, Citizenn & Franky Rizardo soon following.

  1. HOTBED

The tail end of 2016 saw the start of a new project, HotBed. With a focus on the classic funky house sound and aimed at a more mature market, HotBed stepped up from the shadow of ABODE. Now our sister-party is a trailblazer in its own right, with a residency at Ocean Beach in Ibiza plus a brunch series in the capital. Air sax included.

  1. PRINTWORKS

London’s newest state-of-the-art venue – the cavernous former print facilities in Canada Water – was calling for the city’s biggest promoters. On 5th March 2017 we SOLD OUT without even releasing a line-up. Needless to say, we stole the headlines again.

  1. RETURN TO STUDIO 338

After a devastating fire ravished the venue and led to tragedy, ABODE spent months in the wilderness as a nomadic entity. But it was always our intention to return to our spiritual home. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, Studio 338 was rebuilt as the most cutting edge club in London. We returned to full fanfare on Sunday 19th November. We were home.

  1. ABODE ON THE ROCK

Not content with storming the UK and more established party destinations in the Med, we set sights on Gozo – a tiny island off the coast of Malta. Between 8th-11th June 2018 we gave partygoers a bumper, non-stop weekend of thrills with our extended family.

  1. ABODE LAUNCHES AT AMNESIA IBIZA

Taking over the most legendary dancefloor in the world – and setting ourselves up for our biggest challenge yet. 16 Thursdays on Amnesia’s terrace, alongside Do Not Sleep. The opening party was full right from the off, with firebrand sets from Solardo and Secondcity plus our esteemed residents.

  1. ABODE IN THE PARK 2018

After the success of year one, we just had to do it all over again. Already confirmed as joining us on 23rd September are some of the biggest names in the industry: Groove Armada, East End Dubs and Santé & Sidney Charles, Steve Lawler, Danny Howard, our residents, and even more. The curtain falls on festival season with a bang. Join our journey.
